Interacting with students is how to become a guidance counselor. Many students’ career and academic goals are decided through counseling.

School or guidance counselor’s job is to develop students’ social and academic skills to lead a successful life. The students are observed at play and studies strictly to assess their abilities and knowledge. They build the students` confidence in developing career and academic goals. Here, you will understand how to become a guidance counselor.

What a guidance counselor does?

School and career counselors interact with the student and intervene to address the shortcomings. They help students studying in elementary to high school levels. Some counselors assist the students through colleges and governmental organizations in terms of social service and education.

There is always a need for counselors to guide the student at basic levels of making decisions. Career or education guidance is still required.

How to become a guidance counselor?

Either a bachelor or a master`s degree is required to become a guidance counselor. A degree in psychology is the most preferred.

Some counselors begin the career of a teacher and then get into counseling. It helps them to know more about the students and their behavior. License and certification are essential to start in this career.

Some take up this course entirely online. The internship and the clinical experience is fulfilled in the learner`s community. Hybrid programs give requirements of campus attendance and add field experience.
